L.A. Bike Master Plan

The City of Los Angeles introduced a draft map of its Bike Master Plan last week, and by all accounts it was mostly a flop [thanks la.streetsblog].  I don’t know whether to be disappointed or not because I’m not really familiar with the status quo, but the apparent lack of any on- or off-street bike paths (sorry, allegedly “bicycle friendly” streets don’t quite cut it for me) from UCLA to… anywhere makes me appreciate the bike trail network in Arlington a lot more:

Rosslyn to Ballston? Check.  National Mall?  Check.  Old Town Alexandria?  Mount Vernon?  Crystal City?  Bethesda?  Silver Spring?!? Check, Check, Check, Check, Check.  Westwood Village to Santa Monica?  “A roadway that has been identified for bicycle travel and marked with signage” is available.

Hmm.  I think it might be time to sign up for a Confident City Cycling class
